100 Arrows

 Fire away!

In her lively, playful style using brightly coloured arrows fired into wine barrels, Judy Darragh links the art of making wine, the practice of making art and the practice of archery in ‘100 Arrows’.

Artists describe their work as ‘a practice’; one continually seeks improvement and answers through trial and error. There’s a sense of trying to get it right. Similarly an archer shoots arrows into a target over and over, aiming for the highest possible score. Both activities are hit and miss, and require endurance.

Keeping it local, Darragh used Brick Bay wine barrels and worked with Angelo Giorgalli of Matakana Archery to create this engaging new piece.
