Temporary Artist Project

Our Temporary Artist Project for summer, her installation honours these precious giants of the forest and calls for the prevention of Kauri dieback disease.

An artist with an international practice, Singh frequently connects East and West in her work. Here, she emulates traditional Japanese Torii Gates and uses fair trade bells from India.

Carved by hand and painted bright orange, the five glowing gates step up through the bush as living shrines leading to the giant Kauri. During the journey, visitors are encouraged to play the bells suspended above which progressively become higher and softer in tone.

A special piece for this summer season.
