Ray Haydon has constructed 'Pyxis'using carbon fibre. The hand made process is long and laborious. Haydon's studio is a fine tuned machine, everything is ordered and in its place, enabling him to create meticulous and finely tuned possibilities of infinite lines in motion.
In 'Pyxis', the repeated calligraphic like forms balance elegantly on a poetically balanced column, which is also articulated and enables the whole sculpture to complete full 360 degree revolutions.
The kinetic work has an amazing ability to harness the windload and then randomly expell the air, because of this the random movement is far more captivating than an endless spinning cycle.
