A maquette for the larger Tor on Brick Bay Sculpture Trail, this piece refer to rock landforms common in granite country, and at the same time a figurative head. The landscape becomes the figure and the figure becomes the landscape.
Wedekind's work makes reference to his first career as an exploration geologist where orebodies were modelled in planar sections and plots made from derivatives of raw data. His sculpture uses similar sectional layering of forms.
Born in Timaru, Wedekind now resides on Waiheke Island. His practice includes both sculpture and painting, and work can be found in public and private collections throughout the Commonwealth.
