The Long View is representative of Paul Dibble’s ongoing interest in the aesthetics of pure form. First produced in the late 1990s, Dibble’s geometric series signified a shift from works which had used a more narrative basis of themes.

Figurative in approach, the human form is reduced to simple geometric shapes. Some of the works have straight or bowed props seeming to support the shapes. The mathematical approach gives the work a cool surreal elegance, while remaining highly gestural.
